The Harvey House

One of the best dining experiences I have ever had. Everything, the service, ambiance, quality and presentation of food was top notch and without any pretentious service that is typical of such fine dining. Service staff was very friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. It was amazing to watch the kitchen staff prep the dishes, and made the whole experience even more unique. They can get busy and parking can be tricky on Saturdays so plan properly.

The service was impeccable. The general manager greeted me at my table by first name as she did with all the tables around me. The atmosphere was beautiful and comfortable and matched the food and cocktails. Could be some of the best food I've ever eaten! All of it prepared in the open kitchen so you can watch the chefs interact and prepare. I had the house made smoked kielbasa in a blanket, the short ribs, and the pavlova for dessert. It was well-rounded and thoughtful. My tummy was full and super happy at the end.

What a delightful experience. Everything is made in house with attention to the finest of details. Everyone including the bartender was well versed with the menu even though there were two new menu items. The French onion soup was so interactive and I love the Grand Cru they used. The Walleye was something something very special with an exterior so crunchy your neighbor can hear the crunch of your bite. Once the walleye hits your palate it melts like butter. I can see why this is the signature dish! From drinks to dessert, salads to our entrees, our taste buds sang at every bite. The service was nothing short of exceptional! The entire staff was knowledgeable, on the same page, treated all patrons like they belonged there. Hats off to the Harvey House team!

There were four of us, two couples. One couple had visited before; one couple was brand new to Harvey House. Service was impeccable--our waters were always full, and our empties were cleared in a timely manner. Our waiter Neal T. was kind, prompt, thoughtful, and had good suggestions when asked. The food was decent, not great, but was presented nicely. The drinks were really good, especially our extra-dirty martinis with blue cheese-stuffed olives. One thing that bothered me was we ordered a relish tray for the table (four of us), and they brought a relish tray for four people instead of two (which wasn't what we wanted) and they charged us double the cost of the posted menu price ($38 instead of $19) without asking if we wanted enough for four people instead of two. We didn't realize this until after we paid the bill. A bit shady, I thought. The atmosphere was nice, it wasn't stressful to make a reservation online, and the parking was easy...but, considering the high price tag for mostly subpar food, I don't think we'll return.

Wow! We arrived early for a reservation and were immediately seated at the bar, the cocktails are delicious and you can tell the bartender likes his job. The service was amazing, haven’t had service like that at restaurant before. Will definitely be back! I had the New York strip steak and my partner had the salmon (so delicious) crispy skin on the outside and mouth watering in the inside. Try the pavlova!

This isn't just a restaurant! It is honestly an experience that everyone should treat themselves to. The service here was beyond 5 stars. We had an incredible staff serving us on our anniversary night. The food was immaculate. Everything served was plated so perfectly. The restaurant has such a distinguished look. We will absolutely be planning to visit here again.

Wow! Our first visit to Harvey House and we were amazed! The atmosphere is fantastic and watching the kitchen staff and outstanding wait staff, it was crystal clear the training and quality of people working at Harvey House and they know their jobs. Our waiter was Marc who was so friendly, well informed, and probably the best waiter we ever had. We have been to many restaurants and steakhouses and the overall experience was definitely the best we have ever had. Food-relish tray was awesome. We shared french onion soup and Marc instantly knew to have it split in half so we each had our own. The soup was outstanding. We had Walleye which was fantastic, Gnocchi which was really good, and the most amazing apple crisp. We will be back soon!

Best service in the Madison area by far. Definitely a place to treat yourself. 5 star food drinks and service. Every Madison Native should experience Harvey House at least once. If you are going as a group the atmosphere all around is wonderful, but if you are just going as a group of two the bar is THE place to sit. Sizzling shrimp was our favorite of the appetizers, and the filet of fish sandwich is another favorite, but can't go wrong.
